Eastside Oswego Fire Claims Life

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego firefighters responded to a house fire late Wednesday night.

The blaze at an apartment house on East Third Street reportedly left one person dead.

“The call at 155 E. Third St. was reported at 10:14 p.m. with units arriving three minutes later to find the upstairs apartment fully involved with fire,”Chief Jeff McCrobie said.

Flames were extinguished at 10:51 p.m.

An occupant of the multiple-family dwelling was identified as Terry Lee Phillips, 63, reportedly died.

The fire was reported by another resident of the building who smelled smoke and called 911.

Other occupants exited the structure on their own, with one resident helped to safety by firefighters.

The cause is under investigation by the City of Oswego Cause and Origin Team.
