Edward A. Ã¢â‚¬Å“TedÃ¢â‚¬Â Woods (MRSC), 89, and a resident of Springside at Seneca Hill, passed away Wednesday, at the Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Woods was born in Toronto, Canada, the son of the late Frederick A. and Teresa (Flanagan) Woods.
He was a 1941 graduate of the University of Toronto (BA, Hons.), and had also studied at Manchester University in England.
He was a veteran of the Canadian Army, and served in the Royal Canadian Artillery during WWII. He was the recipient of The Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.
Mr. Woods began his career as an employee of the Aluminum Co. of Canada (Alcan). Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a chemist with the Chevron Oil Co. (formerly the Gulf Oil Co.) He and his wife had lived in Oswego for the past four years.
He was a member with the Royal Society of Chemistry. He was also a member of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and the American Chemical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Macfarlane) Woods of Oswego; 2 sons, Michael G. Woods, and his wife Louise Giguere, of Ottawa, Canada, and Edward F. Woods, and his wife Anne, of Toronto, Canada; 5 grandchildren, Elisabeth, Anne, Ian, Victoria, and Rosemary; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers, John F. Woods, and Frank W. Woods.
Private memorial services will be held in Toronto.
Burial will be in St. MichaelÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Cemetery, Toronto.
There will be no calling hours.
