OSWEGO, NY – Edward “Garry” Paice, 70, of Fulton, NY, and Chandler, Ariz., passed away suddenly at his home in Fulton on Tuesday July 16, 2013.
Born in Fulton on September 29, 1942, to the late Catherine Paice Lass and Harold V. Paice, he grew up and attended school in Oswego.
It is there that he met the love of his life and wife of 48 years, Leslie Brown Paice.
Together they had resided in Fulton for the majority of their time together while recently spending winter months in Arizona.
He served in the National Guard and was a former member of the American Legion Post 268.
He spent the majority of his career in the masonry trade before retiring from the NY Power Authority in 2000.
Garry had a passion for long distance running and accomplished 10 marathons, including the NYC Marathon twice.
He was an avid golfer, a member at the Oswego Country Club and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
He attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fulton.
Surviving are his wife, Leslie; a son, Scott (Samara) Paice of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Karri Lee (Mark) Gibala of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Ronald Paice of New Jersey and Dennis Paice of Arizonia; four grandchildren, Ryan and Keegan Paice and Sean and Matt Gibala; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Charles Paice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego, NY 13126.
