Elizabeth Anne Johnson, 88

Oswego – Elizabeth Anne Johnson, 88, passed away Monday morning, at St. Luke Health Services. Mrs. Johnson was known to many of her family and friends as Anne.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Walla Walla, Washington. She was the oldest of three children of the late Finley and Margaret (Quinn) Wellman. She grew up in Canton, Missouri. In Oswego, she resided for 53 years on Draper Street, and later at the Simeon-Dewitt Apartments

On August 21, 1948, she married Frederick B. Johnson at St. Mary’s Church in Oswego. They were married until Mr. Johnson’s death on March 9th 1982.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Barrett Insurance Agency in Oswego. She had formerly been employed at St. Mary’s School and St. Paul’s School in Oswego.

She was an avid bridge player, and was named an American Contract Bridge League Golden Age Master. She was a volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and with Literacy Volunteers. She also served as a school mentor.

Mrs. Johnson was a devout Catholic. She studied the Bible and took courses in the Sacraments of Healing. She was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by 9 loving children, Paul Johnson of Norfolk, VA, Kolbe O’Neil of Albany, Bob (Cheri) Johnson of Dewitt, Connie Harris of Fresno, CA, Kathi (Gary) Kreig of Red Hook, NY, Michael Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Joy (Tom) Miller of Oswego, David (Maria) Johnson of Oswego; and Lisa (Paul) Izyk of Hannibal; 19 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Wellman; her sister, Mary Jo Wellman; a daughter-in-law, Sue Johnson; and a son-in-law, Art O’Neil.

Mrs. Johnson’s children would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s for their compassion and the excellent care that was provided to their mother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Thursday from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 11:00AM in St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-7PM, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.

Paul, Brothers and Sisters…I am Very Sorry for the Passing of your Mom , She was Like a Mom to me Growing up when we all had our Days back then, Your Dad, Mom , and Sisters and Brothers were all My Family also..We had good Times on Draper Street, and I will always remember the Memories back then….Take care , God Bless to the Johnson Family That Grew up on Draper Street..Very Sorry !…Bob
