FULTON, NY – Elsie E. Stanard, 88, of Volney, passed away Friday March 8, 2013, at University Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by her family.

A native of McDonough, she had resided in the Volney-Fulton area most of her life.

She was the daughter of the late Leon and Irene Eccleston.

Elsie had worked with her husband as office manager and bookkeeper for Lauren Stanard Insurance and in tax collecting.

During World War II, she volunteered with the Army Air Forces Ground Observer Corps.

She was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Fulton, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women of the Moose in Fulton, where she had served as an officer.

Elsie loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lauren Stanard, in 2011; and siblings, Gerald, Clifford and Dewey Eccleston, Betty Wright and Mary Rice.

Surviving are her children, Jerry (Barbara) Stanard, Trudy Winfield, Garry (Connie) Stanard and Lauren (Michelle) Stanard; grandchildren, Bryan (Jen) Stanard, Kerrie (Paul) Phillips, Allison (Chris) Nelson, Melissa (Jamie) Nabinger, David Winfield and Adam Stanard; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Mary) Eccleston and Llewellyn (Sue) Eccleston; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday (March 14) at First United Church of Fulton, 33 S. Third St., Fulton, with services to immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Nethercott officiating.

Burial will be in the spring at Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, Mass. 02241-7005.
