Emergency Parking Ban in Oswego Lifted

OSWEGO, NY – Mayor Gillen has lifted the Emergency Parking Ban  in the city of Oswego, effective immediately (Jan. 23).

The Emergency Parking Ban  was put into effect January 22, to assist our city DPW crews in clearing the heavy snowfall from city streets.

Mayor Gillen reminds city residents that the Alternate Side Parking Restrictions are still in effect between 1 and 6 a.m., and asks everyone to please park on the even side of the street on even calendar days, and on the odd side of the street on odd calendar days.

The Alternate Side Parking Restrictions were put into effect on December 26, 2012, to offer options to residents who have no driveway and no off street parking available to them.

  1. how exactly does the even odd parking work. I understand the concept but if it is from 1 am to 6am does that mean I need to go move my car at midnight? for example today is the 24th so I would park on the even house side of the road, at midnight it becomes the 25th, do I need to move to the other side of the road or is it ok to stay there over night?

  2. It’s only during those times So yes, if you are parked somewhere (on the even side for an even date) prior to 1 a.m. You should move your vehicle to the odd side because it is now an odd date. You kind of get an hour’s grace period from midnight to 1 a.m. For the official response, I recommend calling the mayor’s office or OPD
