* WHAT…Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 6 to 10
inches in the most persistent lake snows today through Wednesday
night. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will result in areas of
blowing snow at times.
* WHERE…Wayne, Northern Cayuga, and Oswego Counties.
* WHEN…Until 7 AM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Travel will be difficult. Snowfall rates will be
moderate at times, and the snow will be very fluffy. Areas of
blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions will impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning
and evening commutes.
INSTRUCTIONS: Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling,
be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
