Enter to Win the Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide Photo Contest

OSWEGO – The Oswego County Promotion and Tourism Office announces a new photo contest for all shutterbugs.

Winning pictures will be featured in the new Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide, which will be published in 2015.

The contest is open to county residents and non-residents, as long as the photos are taken in Oswego County within the last three years.

Each person can submit up to five color photos; either vertical or horizontal.

Only digital photos will be accepted.

Photographers can submit pictures of children, families, anglers and sportsmen and women fishing and hunting anywhere in Oswego County.

People are encouraged to send in scenic fishing and hunting photos, trophy pictures and action shots.

Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on January 23 and winners will be notified shortly after that.

“We’re looking for photos that represent the great fishing and hunting Oswego County has to offer,” said Janet Clerkin, tourism and public information coordinator. “Whether your picture shows kids fishing, our beautiful wildlife, or a big buck or steelhead, we want to see photos of real people enjoying a real experience in Oswego County.”

Tourism staff members will judge the contest based on the following categories:

lake fishing, river fishing, ice fishing, youth fishing, catch and release fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, waterfowl hunting, youth hunting, wildlife, scenic photos and best in show.

Clerkin added, “We are contacting local businesses, guides and charter captains for prize donations and are receiving very generous responses. We have already received donations of two six-hour charter fishing trips and overnight accommodations.”

All photos submitted will be featured on the Oswego County Facebook page at:

The Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide will be distributed at trade and travel shows, sports shows, travel information centers, festivals, events, businesses and to individuals over the next two years.
