OSWEGO – Oswego Music Hall continues its Open Mic Friday series on Friday, April 24. Show begins at 7:00 PM; sign-ups at 6:30.

Guest Host, Larry Kyle, leads off Open Mic Friday and will be followed by performers who sign up that night. Doors open at 6:30 with sign-ups taking place then and throughout the evening, as space allows. Musicians typically play three songs each.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Budding performers, singer-songwriters and musicians of all genres are given an opportunity to perform in a supportive environment using cutting edge professional sound and lighting equipment.

Being a veteran and friend of the music scene, Larry Kyle has performed over the course of six decades starting in 1977! He has released five original albums in his brothers-based blues group, DAMDOG. That is over seventy-five self-penned songs and has written hundreds more. Not only performing live with his band, he does justice to an acoustic solo and duo act in which he incorporates guitar, harmonica, vocals, foot percussion, slide guitar, kazoo and more to create a unique live show! With over 150 dates a year under his belt, his passion still burns hot. For further information visit https://www.facebook.com/larry.kyle.37[1].

Scheduling guest hosts for Open Mic Fridays is Coordinator Bryan Dickenson. Open Mics are held on the Friday night prior to Saturday’s National Stage concert. This is the last Open Mic of the Spring season as they will return in the Fall.

The following evening, April 25, the Oswego Music Hall welcomes Tom Rush (accompanied by Brendan Cleary) to the Main Stage at 7:30 PM with doors opening at 7.

Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration…a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues.

Today, Tom Rush lives in New Hampshire when he’s not touring. His voice has grown even richer and more melodic with training, and his music, like a fine wine, has matured

and ripened in the blending of traditional and modern influences. He’s doing what he loves, and what audiences love him for: writing and playing …passionately, tenderly…knitting together the musical traditions and talents of our times.

Brendan Cleary’s music is like a warm ray of sunshine on a cold day; comforting, familiar, and brimming with soul. Sharing stories and songs that have shaped his life, he is opening his heart to America’s Northeast and making the darkest of days bright and clear. Brendan Cleary is Tom’s latest discovery of a talented young musician he feels deserves a wider audience.

The wheelchair accessible venue is located in the McCrobie Civic Center, on 41 Lake Street in Oswego. It is adjacent to Breitbeck Park and overlooks Lake Ontario and the Oswego Harbor. Theatmosphere is  intimate with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage with light refreshmentsavailable. Tickets purchased at the door and refreshments are cash or check only.
