PULASKI – The Salmon River Fine Arts Center invites artists to submit their work to this year’s “Hooked on the Salmon River” juried and themed show. The show is open to all artists regardless of location, genre and style. The primary condition is that the work submitted is themed or inspired by the Salmon River.
This annual show was created to showcase artwork from the region’s many fine artists who find inspiration from the beautiful Salmon River and surrounding landscape. Cash prizes, including a $300 “Best of Show,” will be awarded based on originality, craftsmanship and adherence to the theme. The number of awards and categories will be based on the actual work accepted.
Submissions must be photographed and emailed to the Art Center no later than Friday, Aug. 16. Once the entries are reviewed, artists will be notified of acceptance by email by Aug. 24. Interested artists will find complete guidelines and details in the show prospectus at https://salmonriverfineartscenter.com/pdf/Hooked-on-the-Salmon-River-Prospectus-and-entry-form-2024.pdf[1].
This year’s show will be judged by Patricia A. Tanner – a classically trained local artist who studied painting and drawing in the New York City area at the Cesare Borgia Art School in Westchester and Reilly League of Artists from 1974-1976. She also studied painting, drawing and sculpture under Michael Aviano in New York from 1980-1986 as well as at the New York Academy of Art in New York City in 1990.
An opening reception, which is also open to the public, is planned for Thursday, Aug. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 29 through Oct.19 at the Salmon River Fine Arts Center, located at 4848 N. Jefferson St. in Pulaski.
The Salmon River Fine Arts Center is grateful to Douglaston Salmon Run and Fulton Boiler Works of Pulaski for being major sponsors for this show. Their support of artists and the community is what makes this possible.
