July 7, 2025 — Final Words Publishing announces the release of “Speak Her Name: Stories from a Life in True Crime”, a second book by Mary Jumbelic, M.D., award-winning author of Here, Where Death Delights (2023) and expert forensic pathologist featured on Dateline, Law&Crime Network, Discovery Channel, Oxygen, 48 Hours, and 20/20.

In “Speak Her Name”, Dr. Jumbelic shares her personal stories and investigations into violent crimes against women from her 25 years in forensic pathology, including her role as the first female Chief Medical Examiner in Central New York. Experiencing motherhood in juxtaposition with her job provided constant reminders of her two lives: one with the living, and one with the dead. Such high-profile cases as Leslie Neulander, Carol Ryan, and April Gregory highlight the reality of our society and its treatment of women—and the enduring power of our voices to effect change.

“One of my favorite Dateline guests, Dr. Jumbelic offers a unique perspective as both a woman and medical examiner. This book is a personal look at the lives and crimes against women, giving a voice to those gone and empowering those still with us.” — Andrea Canning, Dateline NBC Correspondent

“Dr. Jumbelic’s writing captures the reality of forensics, pathology, and true crime in a way only an expert who’s lived through the experience can. Her stories are a must-read for anyone interested in true crime!” — Angenette Levy, Law&Crime Network Host

“…A haunting constellation of moments showing how women’s bodies come under examination and threat…Hard-hitting true crime and deep introspection provide an engrossing, multifaceted look at gender-based violence.” — Kirkus Reviews

“[Mary’s] ability to humanize even the most horrific cases makes this memoir a vital contribution to conversations about gender-based violence…Her memoir will resonate deeply with anyone who believes in dignity for the dead—and justice for the living.” — BlueInk Review

Books are available now in ebook and hardcover format through participating retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and hardcover directly with the author through her website at www.maryjumbelic.com/speak-her-name.
