This September, The Oswego Player’s will present the family comedy, “Father Knows Best” adapted for stage by Kirsten Sergel based on a radio play written by Edward James. The show is based on a classic radio and television series of the same title.

Jennifer Snow will direct this production. This will be the second feature length production that Jennifer has directed for the Oswego Players this season. Snow will lead a large cast of area children and adults in show suitable for all ages.

The story, set in the 1950’s, opens with teenager Betty Anderson being asked out on a date for the by Ralph. However, After reading a newspaper story about teenage elopement, her father has decided that he’d better get acquainted with the young man first, so he asks the family “what’s so awful about spending an evening at home?” Nothing—but it seems that Bud, Kathy and even Mother have made plans to go out. Aggravated, Father puts his foot down and they all stay home. The town’s social life is suddenly centered on the Anderson household. The excitement and humorous complications grow and then, in the final scene, Father discovers that while he may know best, the young people know a little, too.
