What Happened to the Missing Sister?

OSWEGO – Approaching opening night, the Oswego Players cast of the classic comedy “A Bad Year for Tomatoes” are getting ready to reveal the pivotal question in the play – what happened to the missing sister?

This classic 1970s comedy written by John Patrick and directed by Inez Manor Parker is set to open this week on April 24th at the Frances Marion Brown Theater at 32 Barbara Donahue Drive in Fort Ontario Park, Oswego.

The play tells the story of a veteran Hollywood actress who retreats to a cabin in Vermont to write her autobiography but has to invent a twin sister to keep her nosy neighbors away: until the time comes when the sister mysteriously disappears, which provides the twist to the madcap ending.

Parker, who has been involved with the Players since the 1950s said “this play has been an absolute joy to direct! I’ve had four new actors joining the cast, two Players stalwarts and one returning after a twenty-year hiatus. All seven have worked incredibly hard and have now become one.”

Christina Schirtz makes her stage debut with this performance. “I didn’t really know what to expect, so I just threw myself into it,” she said. “And what a rewarding experience it’s been. My family is now used to me wandering around the house practicing lines and have been very supportive throughout the whole adventure.”

“This play will captivate audiences from the outset,” said Eve Phillips, who plays the lead character Myra. “It’s a topsy turvy ride when simple country folks take matters into their own hands. I’m not giving away too much, but it’s a really funny show. In this current environment, the world needs some good laughter, and this show brings it!”

“A Bad Year for Tomatoes” opens April 24th and runs for two weekends with performances at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2pm on Sundays.
