OSWEGO – The Oswego State Equestrian Team has reclaimed its Regional Championship Team status after a one-year hiatus.
This is the team’s eighth championship in the past nine years.
This year’s season was closed with a 6-1-1 record.
Securing the regional title advances the team to the National Semi-Final Horse Show in Galva, Illinois, where it will compete with other top teams in the nation in hopes of advancing to the National Horse show In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Oswego State Equestrian Team has also qualified nine riders to advance as individuals to the Western Regional Championship Show, and three riders to advance to the Hunt Seat Regional Championship Show.
The top two riders in their respective divisions will advance to the National Semi-Final Horse Show for the Western and the Zones for the Hunt Seat.
The National Horse show in May at the Harrisburg Farm Complex is the final stop for the top riders, both Hunt Seat and Western.
There, the top athletes and teams in the equestrian collegiate sport will battle it out for the title of National Champion.
Oswego State currently holds five National Championship titles from past years and will be vying to add another title this year.
