FULTON, NY – Ernest L. Clemons Jr., 78, of Fulton, died Wednesday April 29, 2015, at Oswego Hospital, Oswego, NY.
He was born in Fulton, to the late Ernest and Verna (Maliszewski) Clemons Sr.
Mr. Clemons was a resident of Fulton for 22 years.
He was a graduate of Fulton High School and worked as a station manager and primary high school teacher in Papua, New Guinea, for several years.
Mr. Clemons later retired from Birdseye, Fulton.
He enjoyed sports and reading.
Mr. Clemons was very proud of his political independence and while living in PNG he was an avid gardener.
He would create several gardens and then share all his fruits and vegetables with his neighbors and others in need.
Mr. Clemons was predeceased by his sister, Betty; brother, Richard; and his son, Alex Clemons.
He is survived by his wife, Arsenia Clemons of Fulton; five children: Albert Clemons and Leonard Clemons both of PNG, Nicholas Clemons and Laurencia Clemons both of Fulton and Christina Clemons of Florida; his brother, Paul (Sandy) Clemons of Florida; 20 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial were held privately.
