Ernest T. Allen, 93 and a resident of 41 State Route 104A and formerly of Bunker Hill Road, both in the Town of Oswego, died Saturday in the Oswego Hospital.
He was born in Clay, NY and was the son of the late Henry and Grace Thompson Allen.
Mr. Allen was the husband of the late Irene A. Dawson Allen who died January 22, 1999.
He had been employed for many years at the Burroughs Tissue Company in Phoenix. He had previously been employed at Oswego Gardens in the Town of Oswego.
Mr. Allen had lived with his daughter Beverly and son-in-law Don for the past ten years, spending summers in Oswego and winters in Merritt Island, Florida. In earlier years, when his health permitted, he spent some time with his son Ernest in Nevada. Following his retirement at the age of sixty two, he enjoyed reading, bowling, and wood-crafting. He remained active and rode his three-wheel adult bicycle until he turned 92. He also enjoyed NASCAR.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Don) Parkhurst of Southwest Oswego, two sons, Ernest â€œButchâ€ (Connie Tucker) Allen of Eureka, Nevada, Ken and Sue Allen of New Haven, one sister, Florence Boothe of Rochester, twelve grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Lou(Ray) Wooster, formerly of Sulphur, Louisiana and four brothers, Asa Allen, William Allen, Maurice Allen, Frederick Allen, two sisters, Ruby (Clayton) Barden, Gladys (Carlos) Damone, one granddaughter, Heidi Allen and one granddaughter in-law, Sherri Parkhurst.
Funeral services will be held Wed. 7:00PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home with Pastor Elyse Skiles officiating. Burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery. Calling hours Wed. 5-7PM prior to the service.
