Every Dog Has Its Day Set October 19

OSWEGO, NY – “Every Dog Has Its Day” on October 19 when the Oswego County Humane Society holds its annual 5K run or walk and 1 mile family walk at Fallbrook Recreation Center, 103 Thompson Road, with sign in starting at 11 a.m. and races starting at noon.

Dogs are welcome and each one will receive its own dog scarf.

In addition to the run and walk, there will be children’s activities and games, face painting, an airhop inflatable, pet contests and a kids only silent auction.

A picnic lunch will also be provided.

Dog watering, T-shirt and prize sponsors to date include Burke’s Home Center, Canale’s Restaurant, Fulton Savings Bank, Fruit Valley Veterinary Clinic, Fulton Savings Bank, Furdi’s Homes, King’s Rubbish, J&A Mechanical, JP Jewelers, K-9 Grooming & Pet Motel, the Mexico Veterinary Hospital, Mimi’s Drive-in, Pathfinder Bank, Paw Power Pet Supply, Ray’s Furniture Perk, the Red Brick Pub, SallyeAnder Soaps, the Shanley Law Offices and Tame the Wild Grooming.

“We know that just having a pet can make us happier and healthier,” said Kristin Shanley, one of the event organizers. “It can also be a lot of fun. This is the day that we celebrate the importance of pets in our lives.”

Registration for this event is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 12 to 17, and free for kids under 12.

Participants are encouraged to raise funds for the Humane Society by finding sponsors and they can earn prizes such as race T-shirts, gift certificates and entry into a drawing for a $100 Lottery scratch off board depending on the amount they raise.
