F. Brooks West, 86

FULTON, NY – F. Brooks West, 86 of Fulton, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Oswego Hospital.

A native of Baldwinsville, he had resided in Fulton since 1960.

Brooks was a 1944 graduate of Baldwinsville Academy and Syracuse University class of 1951 where he received his bachelor’s degree in English.

He retired as advertising manager of The Fulton Patriot newspaper and had previously worked at Fulton Urban Renewal and Sealright Packaging Company.

Brooks was a U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II serving in postwar Japan.

He was an avid fisherman, bridge player, golfer and member of Beaver Meadows Golf Club and B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #830 in Fulton.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary C. West of Fulton; children, Frank Brooks West, Jr. of Fulton, Louise Ritchey (Allan) of Kirkville, Mark West (Terri) of Brewerton, Mary Ellen West (Tim Davis) of Rochester and Timothy West (Marcellina) of Clay; grandchildren, Gregory Robinson of Sterling, Va., Jeffrey Robinson of Liverpool, Henry and Harrison Davis of Rochester and Benicio West of Clay; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 East Mud Lake Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
