Good nutrition practices, exercise habits and positive lifestyle choices will be in the spotlight during Fairley Healthy Family Night on March 3.
The inaugural event will take place from 5-7 p.m. at Hannibal’s Fairley Elementary School, and the entire school community is invited to attend.
“Good health is a challenge in today’s world and we would like our families to have the most current information available,” said Fairley school psychologist Geri Seward, one of the organizers of the event. “Getting information to families is a challenge and we created a fun, easy way to do this.”
More than three dozen health-related agencies will be on hand to distribute information in their areas of expertise. Organizations such as Oswego County Opportunities, the sheriff’s department and WIC will showcase their knowledge alongside local businesses and health care providers.
“We will have healthy snacks, door prizes and our book fair, plus lots of good information for our families,” Seward said. “We sure hope to have a good turnout.”
So far, organizations and businesses throughout the county have been receptive to the event, Seward said.
She noted that all the door prizes are donated items and include tickets to the movies, bowling passes, earrings, a quilt and gift certificates to area businesses.
