Farnham Family Services Calling on Local Artists for Benefit

A sampling of artwork is shown pictured from the 2009 Farnham Unplugged: Rock the Arts Silent Art Auction. Local artists throughout Central New York are being asked to assist with Farnham’s 2011 Rock the Arts event this upcoming October 29th at the American Foundry by donating artwork to the auction. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit agency’s 2011-12 Campaign Appeal and their Farnham Family Services Student Assistance Programs.

Oswego, NY – Farnham Family Services will hold a silent art auction as part of their 40th Anniversary event Farnham Unplugged at 40: Rock The Arts Halloween Bash scheduled for Saturday, October 29th at 6:00 p.m. at The American Foundry in Oswego.

Local artists throughout Central New York are being asked to assist with the event by donating artwork to the auction. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit agency’s 2011-12 Campaign Appeal and their Farnham Family Services Student Assistance Programs.

“We’re excited about once again showcasing the talented artisans that we have in the area,” said Jeanne M. Unger, MS, Executive Director of the Oswego-based non-profit, chemical dependence outpatient substance abuse clinic, with prevention and school-based student assistance counseling services. “Their help with the art auction will directly benefit the families and children of Central New York.”

According to Unger, the silent art action will be another opportunity for Farnham to bring in much needed funds for their ever growing services, and for artisans to display their work to the community.

All donated artwork for the event will be accepted/selected at the discretion of the Farnham Event Committee. All types of artwork, sculptures, photography, etc. are encouraged for submission/consideration.

The Farnham Unplugged at 40: Rock The Arts Halloween Bash will be this year’s largest fundraising benefit for their Changing Lives Capital Appeal. The agency’s goal for 2011-2012 is $50,000.

In addition to the art auction, the event will be headlined this year once again by Los Angeles-native and artist David Garibaldi.  He appeared at the very successful 2009 Farnham Rock The Arts Event. His world-renowned Rhythm and Hue show, which now tours with the Blue Moon Group, is a performance art show where Garibaldi creates 6-foot portraits of pop icons in minutes to music.  Garibaldi’s unique show is extremely versatile and has been featured with celebrities like Carlos Santana; utilized by Fortune 500 companies like AT&T, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities, and used as a platform to motivate students and employees of various organizations. A variety of other CNY musicians and performances are also being planned.

According to Unger, Farnham Family Services is also calling on individuals, businesses, and corporate partners, to help their non-profit organization continue to “change lives” in the Central New York community by considering a bequest in the way of a donation or by attending their annual event.
