Festival of Arts Celebrates Arts, Music and Beauty of Oswego County

FULTON – The CNY Arts Center invites local artists to participate in a “Plein Air Paint Out” to celebrate Oswego County’s bicentennial this summer.

Artists may paint historic buildings, waterways, local businesses, and other scenic views around Oswego County during the Fulton Festival of the Arts, Aug. 12 to 14.

Registered plein air artists are asked to donate a completed painting to the CNY Arts Center for an auction Aug. 14, to raise money for arts programming.

Artists will receive a Plein Air Paint Out booklet, which includes a listing of participating artists, a map of places to paint, restaurant and visitor information, a T-shirt and other items.

“The Plein Air Paint Out is just one of many opportunities we have planned for the Fulton Festival of the Arts this year,” said Nancy Fox, director of the CNY Arts Center. “People will be able to watch artists painting at various locations in Fulton and other areas of the county, purchase original paintings of some of our county’s beautiful sights, walk the bridges, and listen to great music at the Jazz Festival at Lake Neatahwanta Friday and Saturday evenings.”

Registration is $20 per artist.

Artists may register on line at www.cnyartscenter.com/arts-and-crafts-fest/ www.cnyartscenter.com/calendar/2016/8/12/plein-air-paint-out or in person during the event.

There will be a preview cocktail party from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 13, for the public to view the completed works of art.

An auction will be held Aug. 14, to raise money for arts programming.

All work donated for the auction must be framed or on a beveled or floating canvas.

There will be a work area and tools available for framing at the CNY Arts Center gallery prior to the auction.
