Seneca Falls, NY – FFA and 4-H students will show off their tractor driving skills as part of the Northeastâ€™s largest agricultural trade show August 10-12, 2010 at Empire Farm Days at the Rodman Lott & Son Farms in Seneca Falls, NY. Pre-registration for the Thursday, August 12 contest is appreciated and can be emailed to contest co-coordinator Jon Clayson at [email protected] . Students may also walk-up for the contest that begins at 9am.
The annual competition is designed to educate students about the importance of learning and using safe operating skills on farm equipment. Students must complete a written safety exam, a parts identification section, a two-wheel wagon course, and a four-wheel wagon course. The top individual earns the right to compete at the Eastern Exposition in Springfield, Mass in September.
The 300-acre Empire Farms Days agricultural extravaganza also includes DairyProfit Seminars, live animals, an Equine Center, farm safety and family life displays and activities, 600-plus representatives of agricultural institutions and organizations, GPS-equipped and compact tractor test drives, and chicken, beef and pork BBQ.
