OSWEGO, NY — The Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation faces off locally for its 5th annual Hockey Classic at the SUNY Oswego Campus Center Arena in Oswego.
The event is a 3-on-3 Cross-Ice Hockey Tournament held August 10-14 that consists of 48 total games, which are played cross-ice, 3-on-3.
The event includes 5 divisions of players: Mite (ages 6, 7 and 8), Squirt (ages 9 and 10), Pee Wee (ages 11 and 12), Bantam/Midget (ages 13, 14 and15), and Sled (ages 16 and up).
Due to the growing popularity of the event, the Mite and Squirt divisions have expanded from 4 teams each to 6 teams each. The Pee Wee, Bantam/Midget, and Sled divisions consist of 4 teams each. When the Sled division was added to the event in 2010, it became the first tournament ever to feature sled teams playing in a cross-ice, 3 on 3 format.
Games are scheduled to take place on August 10 from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m., August 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., and August 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Each participant will receive a custom jersey and custom medal. A raffle of NHL memorabilia and quality Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation logo items will be available for purchase. Parents are needed and encouraged to volunteer as coaches.
The Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2007 by NHL hockey player,Stanley Cup Champion, and US Olympian Erik Cole, to support youth hockey programs, as well as children suffering from life threatening diseases.
