First Leaf Peeper Tour, Sterling Art Show Planned


The leaves are starting to change and what better way to celebrate the brilliance of fall than Fair Haven’s first Leaf Peeper Tour and Sterling Art Show.

The Leaf Peeper weekend is scheduled October 17 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and October 18 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The competitive art show is accepting/exhibiting artwork in ten categories: drawing, pastels, sculpture, ceramics, watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, photography and student art (K-12).

There is a $5 fee for each entry.

Each category will be awarded first, second and third place ribbons.

There will also be a People’s Choice award, so don’t forget to vote for your favorite artwork.

Deadline for artist registration is October 7.

The artwork will be displayed in three venues: Sterling Town Hall, Doc Gallery and the Fair Haven Arts Center. These three venues are also participants in the Leaf Peeper Tour.

To participate in the Leaf Peeper Tour, pick up a punch card at any of the 12 participating locations: Ontario Orchards, Sterling Town Hall, Firefly Studio Gallery, Chillson’s Antiques, Doc Gallery, Front Porch Gift Shop, South Shore Artisans, Hardware Café, Fair Haven Arts Center, Sterling Cidery, Fly-by-Night Cookie. and Colloca Winery.

All fully punched cards will be eligible for a gift basket drawing containing gifts from each of the locations.

The artists’ reception will be held at the Fair Haven Arts Center, October 18 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The winners of the gift basket drawing and the People’s Choice awards will be announced at 4 p.m.
