Lake Ontario report:
Anglers are getting their boats ready and hoping this weather pattern turns around soon. When conditions allow, anglers are finding a brown trout bite trolling with stickbaits or spoons near shore.
Oswego River report:
Notice: The bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are mandatory personal flotation device (PFD) zones on the river. For more information, visit our website at www.visitoswegocounty.com and click on the Fishing Report along the top bar on the home page.
Salmon River report:
According to the Douglaston Salmon Run:
We only had a handful of anglers on the Run this weekend. The two anglers that fished for the better part of yesterday finished off a three day trip with smiles on their faces. “We had a good day and it was better today than yesterday.” I didn’t ask numbers but I could tell they left on a high note. As they have been doing over the past few days, cover water and change up the offering very often. Water from the reservoir will remain at 1500 cfs through midnight Monday and the current flow at the Pineville gauge is 1870 cfs.
According to Whitaker’s Sport Shop & Motel:
On Sunday we had freezing rain for most of the morning and in the afternoon it stopped raining and the wind picked up. The few anglers we spoke with had some success in the mid section of river as well as some of the smaller local tributaries. The anglers who were fly fishing had the most success dead drifting with egg patterns. The anglers who were float fishing had the best results with blue or pink egg sacs, beads and pink worms. High winds and rain are in the forecast for today with more rain and snow showers throughout the week.
Oneida Lake report:
There is not much to report from Oneida Lake. The weather with winds and snow showers has not been very favorable for open water fishing. Just a reminder that walleye season closed on March 15 and will reopen on May 5.
Sandy Pond report:
The pond is quiet this time of year as we wait improved weather conditions and open water fishing. A reminder that walleye and northern pike season closed on March 15 and will reopen on May 5.
