OSWEGO, NY – Frank Clavelli Jr. has announced his candidacy for the Oswego City Council to represent the Fifth Ward.
Clavelli, a former Second Ward councilor, filed his designating petitions at the Oswego Board of Elections, submitting more than twice the amount of needed signatures to secure a ballot placement.
“I’m very excited to begin the real work of my campaign,” Clavelli said. “I believe in open, honest, and responsive government. By talking with our neighbors and gaining their insights and ideas, we can work together to solve the issues facing our community.”
Clavelli plans to focus his campaign on quality-of-life issues and economic development.
He also looks forward to having one-on-one conversations with ward residents.
“We have so many great resources here in Oswego, such as the waterfront and marinas. We want to continue developing these resources and keep adding to what makes Oswego great and special. We want to create good jobs and keep our kids here. The sky’s the limit for what we can accomplish,” said Clavelli.
Along with the Democrat ballot line, Clavelli also secured an Independent line which is the Thankful Party.
This represents how he feels about all of the wonderful opportunities that he has been afforded while living in the Oswego community.
He has received the unanimous endorsement of the Oswego City Democrat Committee.
Clavelli, a fourth-generation Oswegonian, served on the Oswego city council from 1992-94 and currently has served as a member of the city Zoning Board of Appeals for more than three years.
Employed for more than 34 years at Nine Mile Point (Constellation), he spent the first 12 years as a maintenance mechanic and the last 22 years as a warehouse material handler.
Currently he has been promoted to foreman of this work group.
He and his son, Joe, reside on Sunrise Drive in Oswego.
