OSWEGO, NY – Frederick Carlton Shappee Jr., 86, a resident of Minetto, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 29, 2015, at Morning Star Residential Care Center.
Born in Minetto, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick Carlton Shappee Sr. and Edith Quinn Shappee.
Carl was a US Army veteran, serving from 1952-1956 and was a recipient of the Korean Medal.
He worked in quality control for Sealright for 33 years retiring in 1990.
He was a recreational pilot and flew his own plane that he built.
He was a Past Master of Hannibal Lodge of the F&A Masons for more than 45 years.
He was a Noble of Media Shrine Watertown, a member of the American Legion and an EAA member.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (Post) Shappee; daughters, Carla (Steven) Salisbury of Minetto and Susan (Robert) Caruth of Syracuse; a son, Jeffrey Shappee (Denise Lucas) of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Salisbury, Derek Salisbury and Katie Caruth; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, James Shappee; and a sister, Donna Gougeon.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Minetto Methodist Church; with a Masonic service prior.
Spring burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery.
