BALDWINSVILLE, NY – With modified and sportsman racing events scheduled at other Northeast tracks on April 7, the staff and management of Fulton and Brewerton speedways have decided to cancel the Blast Off III Pre-Season Party and awards ceremony originally scheduled for that day. However, the open practice scheduled for 2 p.m. will remain as scheduled.
“First and foremost, our teams want to go racing. With a race to the east of us at Fonda and west of us at Canandaigua, we felt it better to let them go do what they wait all winter to do” said track promoter Harvey Fink, “Most of our Modified teams have expressed interest in going to one event or the other and we felt it best to not have our event interfere. We will look at a more suitable date for our 2012 season awards presentation.”
Driver point money from 2011 will be available for distribution at the Gater News Motorsports Expo March 10 and 11 and at the Great Northern Mall Car Show March 23 – 25. There will be an on-track awards presentation for Brewerton teams at the track’s April 20 opener. Fulton drivers will be recognized when the Fulton Speedway opens its point season on May 5.
Fulton Speedway will host a special opening day on April 14 with the Inaugural A-Verdi Storage Containers Methanol Meltdown 2012 – the series opener for the Patriot Sprint Tour.
SUNY Canton Sportsman and NAPA Late Models will also be in action competing for guaranteed starting spots in their respective Outlaw Weekend Championship events.
