Local businesses and individuals have taken the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) over their fundraising goal and allowed it to once again receive a $100,000 award from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation!

“Most recently FBB has received donations from Foster Funeral Home, Huhtamaki, Patterson Warehousing, Bellinger’s Auto, The Great Outdoors, Fulton Firefighters and Burkes Home Center” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director.

All of these businesses have been serving the Fulton community for many years.

As with so many sponsors that have preceded this group, each is committed to the City of Fulton, it’s resident’s and the opportunities for positive change that comes with the Fulton Block Builder Initiative. Each is pleased to support the exciting Fulton Block Builders – Challenge grants.

The Richard S. Shineman Foundation’s vision is to act as a “catalyst for change” to enhance the quality of life in Oswego County.

Karen Goetz shared that the board is very encouraged by the increasing and unprecedented collaborations they see happening among groups like the Fulton Block Builders, in our community.

“Now is the time for all of us, together, to act decisively to build the Oswego County that we envision,” she said.

“The awards have been made for 2018 and once again the community engagement has been astonishing” said Eagan.

Over 350 homes submitted pre-applications making the decision very difficult for the independent scoring committee. The decisions were based on group collaboration, evidence of community spirit, visibility in the city, completeness of the application and proposed work.

To that end, 212 homeowners were awarded grants for work to be completed on their homes before the end of October, in all wards of the city.

Both Goetz and Eagan are enthusiastic about the positive changes that this year’s awardees will make in the city of Fulton.
