The Fulton Music Associationâ€™s 13th Annual Celebration of Community Music will be presented on Saturday, May 15, 7:30 p.m., at the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium, it was announced by Steve Chirello, FMA president.
â€œ New additions this year include the Classic Touch barbershop quartet featuring Barney Johnson, tenor; Dave Hubalek, lead; John Howe, bass; and Roger Wells, baritone. We will also be presenting Irving Berlinâ€™s â€˜Americaâ€™ that combines the Fulton Community Band with choirs from several local churches. Among these are First United Methodist, State Street Methodist and Holy Trinity Catholic church.
This event will also present the Fulton Music Association senior music awards. Winners of these awards will perform as well.
The concert will also feature performances by: the Cortini Brothers Jazz Experience, the Fulton Community Band under the direction of Carol Fox, and the Hamer Sing-Along group.Â In addition to Berlinâ€™sÂ â€œAmerica,â€ the community band will also be performing â€œFolk Song Suiteâ€ by Vaughn Williams, Music fromÂ â€œKiss Me Kate,â€ Von Suppeâ€™s â€œLight Cavalry Overtureâ€ and â€œLexiconâ€ march by Ed Huckeby.
All concert participants are generously donating their time to help raise funds for FMA,â€ Chirello said. â€œIn addition to helping high school students receive FMA awards this spring, FMA members will continue to help sponsor Fultonâ€™s summer concert series, the piano recital series presented in cooperation with the SUNY Oswego Music Dept., and bring special performances by the Syracuse Symphony and others, like the U.S Armyâ€™s 10th Mountain Div. Band right here to Fulton.â€
Tickets for the event, which can be purchased at the door, are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
