Fulton City School District Unveils Read To Them Program For K-6 Students

FULTON – Assemblies and activities were a plenty throughout all four Fulton City School District elementary buildings as students participated in a kickoff celebration for the Read to Them initiative.

Pictured are Lanigan fourth graders who completed a series of BreakoutEDU challenges, which required students utilize critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills, which lead to them figuring out they get to keep the book.

Students from Granby, Lanigan, Fairgrieve and Volney elementary schools will read “The One and Only Ivan” with a parent or other positive role model, as the district will serve as a conduit for reading at home.

The district provided a brand new copy of the book, and a bookmark with a suggested reading schedule, to each student in grades kindergarten through six.

Fun Ivan-related activities in school throughout the next two months aim to continuously encourage families to read together each night at home.
