FULTON – On April 26, the Fulton Family YMCA is celebrating YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day with a free community event to get more families moving, learning and living healthier.
“At YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, we are focusing on health and education to ensure fewer children are at an increased risk for childhood obesity and more children succeed in school,” said Kim McPherson, health and wellness coordinator, Fulton Family YMCA. “But it’s not just a single day of fun, active play and learning – it’s a kick off to helping parents get a jump on creating a healthier summer.”
During summer, many children lose exposure to out-of-school activities that keep their minds and bodies active, leaving them at risk of falling behind academically and gaining weight twice as fast as they would during the school year.
The Fulton YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day event takes place from 6 – 8 p.m. and features fun, active play and educational activities, such as crafts, family relays, nutrition information, Bounce House Fun and more. We will also have information regarding our summer programs available.
YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day is supported by the United Way of Greater Oswego County and Stewarts Shops.
The Fulton Family YMCA is proud to host representatives from United Health Care, Tobacco Free Network, Fulton Police and Fire Department, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and others, who will be on hand during this event.
YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day is supported by national media partners Sprout and Lazy Town, who are committed to encouraging kids to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Every child who participates will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of two bikes!
