Fulton Lions Hosts Feb. 10 Chicken BBQ For ‘H’ Dowd Scholarship

The Fulton Lions Club has announced that they will be hosting its fourth annual chicken BBQ, Sun. Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fulton Polish Home to benefit the club’s Mary and Harold “H” Dowd Memorial Scholarship, said Dave Guyer, Fulton Lions president.

The Fulton Lions Club will be hosting a chicken BBQ Sun. Feb 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fulton Polish Home to benefit the club’s Mary and Harold “H” Dowd Memorial Scholarship. Tickets are $7 at the door for eat-in or take-out. Deliveries for multiple orders can be arranged the day of the event by calling 591-7723. Fulton Lions members gather ‘round the BBQ cooking chicken at the 2009 event. They include, from left: Len Kellog, Dave Dingman, Brad Stevens, Mark Tallents, Dowd BBQ Chair Dr. Brett Tallents, and Charles McIntyre. For more information, contact Lion Brett Tallents at 593-3225.

“Harold ‘H’ Dowd was a member of the Fulton Lions Club for more than 40 years,” Guyer said. “ He served both our club and our community with dedication, selflessness and good humor. Mary Dowd was an honorary Fulton Lions Club member who always opened her home to the club and to foreign exchange students for years. The Fulton Lions have established a scholarship for a graduating Fulton high school student in their name to be awarded on a yearly basis.

“As we did last year, we’re also offering local delivery of multiple orders. Just call 591-7723 on the day of the event to arrange a delivery.”

Chicken dinner tickets may be purchased for $7 at the door for either eat-in or take-out. In addition, a 50-50 raffle will also be held the day of the event.
