Fulton Man Wins Gold at NYS Taekwondo Championships

FULTON – On April 2, John W. McEachen, of Fulton, was awarded the gold medal in sparring in the Black Belt ultra lightweight (40-49 years -68kg) division at the USA-Taekwondo New York State Championships, winning his one match by knockout in the second round.

The tournament was held in the Fitzgerald Gym at Queens College, and serves as the official state qualifier for the USA-Taekwondo National Championships (http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Taekwondo) which will be held in July.

McEachen is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.

He divides his training time between his home gym, running during community hours at the Romney Field House indoor track at SUNY Oswego, and training at Master Pryor’s Taekwondo America in Oswego.

He is a United States Border Patrol agent and works at the Oswego Station.
