CNY Arts Announces 2015 Decentralization Grants

SYRACUSE, NY – CNY Arts is pleased to announce the 2015 Decentralization Grant Cycle for individual artists, nonprofits, and public schools to support arts, culture, history, and heritage projects.

The three grant programs include Individual Artist Commissions, Community Arts Grants, and ArtStart Arts Education Grants that serve Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, or Oswego county residents.

The Individual Artist Grants support the development of new works by artists that demonstrate substantial community benefit and involvement during the creative process.

Community Arts Grants provide support to community-based nonprofits, groups, collectives, or artists for arts programming or projects.

Arts Education Grants are designed to support arts education projects in the K-12 public school setting.

Awards range from $500 to $5000.

Local decision-making is the guiding principle of decentralization.

All grant applications are reviewed by peer panels made up of local residents, artists of various disciplines, arts administrators, educators, and community leaders.

This is a competitive grant process.

The deadline for Community Arts and Individual Artist grant applications is November 3.

ArtStart Arts Education applications are due November 17.

CNY Arts is offering several Grant Information Sessions throughout the six counties until October 10.

Anyone interested in applying for a grant is encouraged to attend.
