Part of the CAC’s Go Blue! For Kids Campaign that focuses on awareness and prevention of child abuse in Oswego County, the ‘Blue Ribbon Ride’ is a 60-mile motorcycle ride that will wind throughout Oswego County.

Scheduled for Sept. 11, the ride will start and end at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In on Route 3.

According to committee members the CAC’s “Blue Ribbon Ride” is the only charity ride that tours Oswego County exclusively and raises funds for an agency that serves so many children in the county.

“We have planned a fun-filled day bikers won’t want to miss,” said executive director of the CAC, Karrie Damm. “Following a scenic ride through Oswego County, participants will enjoy a barbecue at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In. There will also be plenty of raffles and live entertainment.”

A $30 donation per driver and a $20 donation per passenger are requested.

Riders who obtain $100 or more in donations will ride and dine for free.

Damm added that non-bikers who would like to support the CAC’s Go Blue! For Kids Campaign are also welcome to be part of the event.

Registration for non-riders is $20 per person or $40 per family and includes the barbecue and entertainment at Sweet Inspirations following the ride.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the CAC’s Go Blue! For Kids Campaign.

Day of registration for bikers will begin at 10 a.m. with the ride beginning at noon.

CAC has partnered with many local businesses to get the word out about child abuse and to help raise greatly needed funds to help them continue their efforts to address and prevent child abuse in Oswego County.

The CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, therapy providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve child victims of sexual and physical abuse.

In 2009 the CAC served more than 300 children as sexual abuse cases in Oswego County rose by more than 75%.

“We are very appreciative of the support we receive from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department,” said Damm. “In addition to their monetary support several members take part in the ride while others serve as escorts for our bikers during the ride.”
