Fulton Officer Foils Man Who Wanted To Shoot Himself

Police convinced a man not to shoot himself as he sat in a Fulton parking lot on Saturday.

Fulton officer Sean Hanks showed up at about 5:50 p.m. to the parking lot of the Oswego Health Urgent Care Center in Fulton (formerly Lee Memorial Hospital) for a report of a possibly suicidal man with a gun.

He found a 53 year old man from Camden.  The man was sitting in his vehicle with a loaded 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun.  From time to time, the man would point the gun at his own chest.

It took several tense minutes, but Hanks convinced the man to drop the shotgun and come out of the vehicle.

Police took him for a mental health evaluation.  Police have not yet charged the man with a crime.
