FULTON, NY – Today (August 16), at approximately 1:40 a.m., a Fulton police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 300 block of East Broadway (State Route 3) in the city of Fulton.
Contact was made with the driver, Scott E. Brien, 45, of Fulton, and while waiting for the response of a computerized check of the driver’s license status the vehicle began to flee at a high rate of speed, police said.
After a short pursuit, Brien reportedly bailed out of his vehicle leading police on a short foot pursuit before being taken into custody.
At the scene Brien was found to allegedly be in possession of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Brien was charged with the following:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree – B Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Fourth Degree – C Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Seventh Degree – A Misdemeanor
Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a MV Third Degree – A Misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest – A Misdemeanor
Obstructing Governmental Administration – A Misdemeanor
Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Second Degree – Misdemeanor
Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
He is currently being held at the Fulton Police Department where he is awaiting arraignment in Fulton City Court.
