FULTON, NY – At about 4:30 a.m. Monday, Fulton Police responded to a report of a suspicious male possibly entering cars in the area of North Sixth and Fremont streets, on the city’s east side.
Officers responded and began checking the area on foot.
John A. Stoutenger, 23, of South Third Street in Fulton, was allegedly observed by police inside a parked car shining a flashlight.
Police went to apprehend Stoutenger, however, he fled the area, resulting in a brief foot pursuit.
Stoutenger was caught and arrested by police after a short distance.
During the pursuit and arrest, Officer Rick Hahn suffered a half-inch laceration to his lower lip.
Officer Hahn was treated at Oswego Hospital and released.
Stoutenger was charged with Assault 2nd degree (a class D felony), Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, and Resisting Arrest.
Stoutenger was arraigned and remanded to the Oswego County Public Safety Center on $5,000 cash/ $10,000 bond.
