FULTON, NY – Fulton Rotarian, Nancy Kush Ellis, introduced Anne Costa, assistant director of outreach and education for Aurora of CNY.
Anne gave an overview of Aurora to the Fulton Rotarians.
Aurora is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to servicing the blind, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing in Central New York.
Aurora is funded by Federal Funds, the United Way, grants and the Office for the Aging.
Aurora helps with rehabilitation for daily management, and provides their clients with information on special products available to help with daily living.
Anne explained that more people are suffering with hearing and vision loss than in the past.
Some things attributing to the loss are iPods, poor lighting, smoking, diabetes, and poor sunglasses.
Aurora of CNY provides services to clients in Onondaga, Cayuga, Oswego, Northern Cortland, Jefferson and Seneca counties.
Aurora’s local contact is David DeFrancis at 422-7263 for further information.
