FULTON, NY – According to www.attendanceworks.org, studies show that missing school correlates with achievement gaps and high school dropout rates across the country; that is why the Fulton City School District celebrates school attendance every September in honor of Attendance Awareness Month.
The district held its annual Attendance Awareness Celebration at the Fulton Education Center recently.
Amongst the food, the music and the fun are informational booths and resources available to students through non-profit groups such as ARISE, parent-teacher groups, Oswego County Opportunities, Integrative Counseling Services, SUNY Oswego’s Mentor-Scholar program and more.
Every parent and child was presented with an attendance success plan geared towards improving their student’s school attendance.
Some tips include keeping an attendance chart at home and recognizing your child for attending school every day.
