It was close, but Fulton’s team strength overcame some strong individual performances from an Eastern New York team to win the Tri-Valley Tournament in Camden.

Fulton’s 191 points edged Queensbury, with 175 points, according to results posted on CNYWrestling.com.

Queensbury placed four wrestlers in the finals, winning three matches.  Fulton also places four in the finals, with Adam Wallace and David Hall taking titles and Mitchell Woodworth and Nick Muckey finishing in second position.  Wallace and Hall each won by decisions, Wallace by a single point.

Wallace was named the team’s wrestler of the week for his performance at the tournament, which included three pins.  He also recorded his 100th career win the week before and is 17-0 to begin the season.

The Red Raiders placed four wrestlers in the 3rd place matches, winning three.  Queensbury lost both of its consolation matches.

Fulton’s Zach Race, among the best in the state at 189 pounds, lost a 6-4 decision to another of the state’s best, Chris Ohnsman of Ballston Spa.  Race took 3rd place in his weight class, while Ohnsman won a 3-2 decision in three overtimes.

The Red Raiders take on Cortland in a dual meet Wednesday in Cortland.
