Buffalo State scored two first half goals as the Oswego State womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s soccer team fell 2-1 to the visiting Bengals on Friday afternoon. The loss dropped the Lakers to 6-6-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the SUNY Athletic Conference, while Buffalo State improved its overall record to 3-3-5 and league record to 1-2-1.
Kristina Boberskyj opened the scoring for the Bengals with her fifth goal of the season in the tenth minute. Barb Kiliszek was credited with an assist on the play.
Oswego State tied the game at the 33:21 mark when Michelle Bateman (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) recorded her 13th goal of the season after receiving a pass from Tricia Sullivan (Sr., Copenhagen, N.Y.). However, Buffalo State responded before the end of the half in the 41st minute when Hannah Williams was credited with an own goal, giving the Bengals a 2-1 halftime lead.
Both squads went back and forth in the second half, but the Lakers were unable to send the game into extra periods. Oswego State goalkeeper Christina Fregosi (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded three saves, while Buffalo StateÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Meghan Jarrell tallied four saves.
The Lakers will play their final home game of the regular season on Saturday against Fredonia at 1 p.m.
