OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s basketball team fell 67-56 to Geneseo Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Lakers drop to 5-13 on the year and 3-8 in the SUNYAC.
Geneseo improves to 14-4 overall, 10-1 in the conference.
The Lakers kept it close the whole game, never allowing the Knights, who currently sit atop the SUNYAC, to really pull away.
In the second half, Oswego went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to points with just 5:46 left, but the team was unable to capitalize.
Heather Hebert led all scorers with 15 points.
She also tacked on six boards which was tied with Alisha Jacobs for the most.
Rachael Windhausen pitched in, scoring 13 points, including five points from the charity stripe.
Defense was a highlight for the team, as it collectively held Geneseo to only 20 percent (4-for-20) from behind the arc.
Mary Mazzella also helped defensively, recording five steals, a career best.
Women’s basketball will return to the court at 7:30 p.m. on Friday as they head to Fredonia to battle the Blue Devils.
