George G. Weldin, 85

OSWEGO, NY – George G. Weldin, 85, of Oswego died Monday June 23, 2014, in Seneca Hill Manor, Volney, NY.

He was born in Granby, and had been a lifetime resident of Oswego County.

Mr. Weldin retired from Carrier Corp. in Syracuse as an air compressor builder.

He was a former Granby volunteer firefighter, a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association, and the Fulton and Oswego Stamp Club.

Mr. Weldin was predeceased by his wife, Charlene Weldin, in 2014; his daughter, Katrina; and grandson, George Carvey.

He is survived by his children, Ola (Paul) Williams of Arkansas, Bruce (June) Weldin of South Carolina and  Donnajean VanBuren of Fulton; stepdaughters, Florence Ross and Cynthia Masuicca of Oswego; sister, Nellie Hillman of Oswego; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St. Oswego.

  4. When I joined the GFD 42 years ago, the first person I came in contact with was George W. He showed me around and made me feel a part of the Dept. We had some good times during field days, and were all brothers on the fire ground. RIP my friend
