George G. Weldin, 85


OSWEGO, NY – George G. Weldin, 85, of Oswego died Monday June 23, 2014, in Seneca Hill Manor, Volney, NY.

He was born in Granby, and had been a lifetime resident of Oswego County.

Mr. Weldin retired from Carrier Corp. in Syracuse as an air compressor builder.

He was a former Granby volunteer firefighter, a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association, and the Fulton and Oswego Stamp Club.

Mr. Weldin was predeceased by his wife, Charlene Weldin, in 2014; his daughter, Katrina; and grandson, George Carvey.

He is survived by his children, Ola (Paul) Williams of Arkansas, Bruce (June) Weldin of South Carolina and  Donnajean VanBuren of Fulton; stepdaughters, Florence Ross and Cynthia Masuicca of Oswego; sister, Nellie Hillman of Oswego; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St. Oswego.

    he will be missed by all who knew him! over-all great person. rest in peace god-father, family is in my prayer`s…… donnajean, bruce and ola!

    we had good happy wanderer days…. hey dj. i remember george and ruth doing our wedding. those were the good dazes of summer and that was like a million years ago. take care my friends.

    thank you lynn and oh my could that be R. McBeth ! yes my dad will be missed and is now free to wander all those great and glorious campgrounds on the other side!

    When I joined the GFD 42 years ago, the first person I came in contact with was George W. He showed me around and made me feel a part of the Dept. We had some good times during field days, and were all brothers on the fire ground. RIP my friend

    thank you Mr. LaBarge! It makes me feel good that my dad was so good at helping others. That is the kind of person he was until the end of his life
