OSWEGO, NY – George W. Lundy, 87, a resident of Oswego, passed away Monday September 28, 2015.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late George and Catherine (McMahon) Lundy.
He was a US Navy World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific and Puerto Rico.
George retired as a Sergeant of the Oswego Police Department after 41 years.
He was a member of the Lake City Police Club and a life member of the Elks 271.
He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed jogging and playing poker.
He was a member of the Lake City Police softball team.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Thomas) Keating of Minetto; son, George F. Lundy of Oswego; one brother, Richard W. Lundy of Massachusetts; one sister, Betty Lou Allen of Oswego; four grandchildren, Kimberly Keating of Minetto, Shaun (Elizabeth) Keating of Bayville, NY, George Lundy of Oswego and Danielle (David) Lundy-Losurdo of Scriba; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Audrey, Madeline and Alyson.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Horr) in 2010; and by his siblings, William, Allan and Helen Lundy.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
