OSWEGO, NY – Georgianna Jessie Carney, 83, a former resident of the town of Scriba, and of Bishop’s Commons, passed away Wednesday February 26, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
Jessie was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late George and Jessie (Day) LeRoy.
She was a life resident.
She was the wife of the late John F. “Jack” Carney, who died on the same date, February 26, in 1993.
Prior to her retirement she worked, for many years, with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Oswego as an office manager, and later as an agent.
Jessie was a former board member of the H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego County Federal Credit Union.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Ross and Norma Fairly, both of Oswego; two sisters-in-law, Diane LeRoy and Anne Carney; a brother-in-law, James “Perry” Winterhalt; 13 nieces and nephews, Joanne (Jim) Stone, Karen (Ron) Gadziala, Terry (Stan) Falise, James (Paula) Perry, Jill Winterhalt, Mary (Jeff) Gordon, Paul (Jean) Perry, Lori (Bud) Hunt, George “Mike” LeRoy, Tim (Kim) LeRoy, Dayna (Dave) Cliff, Lewis Lewis and Garry (Nancy) Lewis; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special great-niece, Samantha Gordon.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, George “Bunzy” LeRoy; and a sister, Shirley Winterhalt.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, in St. Paul’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
