OSWEGO, NY – Geraldine B. Rossiter, 84, a former resident of Oswego, passed away on March 1, 2010, in Ohio.
Born in Fulton, she was a daughter of the late George and Carolyn (Alton) Desens and was a graduate of Oswego High School, Class of 1942.
She was an operator with N.Y. Telephone and was a waitress in Oswego and Florida.
Geraldine was a member of the Philomalions and the First and West Baptist Church Choir.
She later spoke to groups about the refugees coming to Oswego and she was mentioned in the book Safe Haven.
She loved to swim, play cards and travel.
Surviving are two sons, R.Tucker Rossiter of Lebanon, NH and George Rossiter of Hudson, Mass.; two grandchildren, Amy Lynn Palermo and Matthew Rossiter; three great- grandchildren, Sam, Jack and Lauryn; and three sisters, Carolyn Gray of Long Boat Key, Fla., Dorothea Fournier of Sanford, Maine and Kathryn Ritzen of Longmeadow, Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Rossiter, in 1975.
Funeral services will be held on March 8 at 11 a.m. from the West Baptist Church.
There are no calling hours.
Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
