FULTON, NY – Mother’s Day weekend will have added meaning at the Fulton Speedway for the local area Girl Scouts. For the second straight year dirt racer Katelyn Kane will host the Girl Scouts with a meet and greet.
After the success of the last year’s Girl Scout Night at Fulton Speedway, Kane was determined to make it an annual running event.
After talking with Judi Knowlton, senior community development manager of Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, and Fulton Speedway’s promoter Cory Reed, the trio has settled on Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 yet again for the special event.
“It was a real honor having so many girls there to cheer for me,” said Kane. “It feels great to have these girls look up to me, and I’m thrilled they want to do it again.”
Kane then went on to say, “If I can make one more dirt-racing fan out of the girls who attend this event, then it is a success in my book.”
Since planning has started early this year, the trio hopes to make the event bigger and better than last year.
The event will be included in the Girl Scouts of NYPENN’s Spring Discover Book, which is a program guide that will go out to the families of more than 18,000 Girl Scouts and the event will also be included on Fulton Speedway’s schedule.
As a way to gain more popularity for the event, on Tuesday, Kane will appear on the local talk show Bridge Street at 10 a.m. with a member of the Girl Scout Troop 11013 who has been invited to sing the national anthem at this year’s event.
