Girl Scouts To Visit Fulton Speedway

By Katelyn Kane
FULTON, NY – Mother’s Day weekend will be an extra special one at the Fulton Speedway for the area Girl Scouts as they will have a meet and greet with Fulton’s two female Sportsman Modified drivers, Katelyn Kane and Beth Schneider.

The girls will be able to enjoy a fun night of racing action, but prior to the show will have a chance to chat with Kane and Schneider who will be speaking with the girls about always putting education first, good sportsmanship, and breaking down stereotypes. On top of that the girls will have the opportunity to take pictures with the drivers and even take a signed autograph card from both Schneider and Kane.

“We really want the night to be about the racing,” Kane explains, “but we also want to give these girls someone they can relate to, we want to see them coming back week after week.”

“We want to become role models for these young girls,” Schneider goes on to say, “by teaching the girls that education must come first, but you can also achieve anything you set your mind to.”

Both Kane and Schneider have been in talks with Judi Knowlton and Christina Verratti from the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, and hope to turn this event into a yearly celebration.

Upon the completion of Kane and Schneider’s race, which will be the first feature ran of the night, they will rejoin their new friends and view the rest of the night’s racing action with the Girl Scouts and offer answers to any questions the girls may have.

In conjunction with meeting the drivers, the Girl Scouts will be able to sign up for Fulton Speedway’s Junior Fan Club, where they can be placed in a drawing to possibly win a ride in the pace car with their favorite driver during intermission.

Fulton Speedway’s Girl Scout Night will be held Mother’s Day weekend, May 12. Racing starts at 7 p.m. although the Girl Scouts are encouraged to get to the track at 5 p.m. to meet both Schneider and Kane and Kane’s car in the grandstands.

There will also be special alcohol-free seating available for the girls. 18 and under are always free and adults can purchase their $12 ticket at the gate.
